Pencil and OMG integration

Pencil Setup in OMG

The first step is to login into OMG. Thereafter select 'Projects' from the 'Planning' dropdown.
Click the 'Deliverables' tab. Enter all deliverable details including a brief.
Once your deliverable is setup, you now have the ability to use Pencil to create content.

Key pre-requisites to get started:

A Pencil workspace must be established.
OMG must be configured to link the business area to the Pencil workspace.

Ensure you have access to the Pencil workspace:
OMG does not automatically grant access to the Pencil workspace for users creating projects or content.

Launching Pencil

First open your deliverable and choose 'Pencil' from the ‘Actions’ menu. If you do not see the 'Launch Pencil' link - contact OMG Support. Once you have linked a deliverable to Pencil and selected a 'Workspace' the entire OMG project is now tied to that Pencil workspace. This is done to ensure financial reporting aligns to the project's billing entity.

If the project hasn’t already been setup in Pencil, you will need to choose a 'Magic Tool' to start the integration.

Workspaces
Once the 'Workspace' has been set, it can't be undone - so proceed with caution.

Based on the configuration of the business area, you'll be presented with a list of workspaces. Choose your workspace for the project you are working on (you will only be able to see those workspaces you have access to).

Select the relevant workspace. You will then be presented with a list of available 'Pencil Project Types' based on the workspace you've selected. If the project has already been setup in Pencil, you just choose which element you want to work on (or create new if needed)

Magic Tools

These four options are the same options available in Pencil under 'Magic Tools'.

This is your opportunity to choose a unique name to identify this project within Pencil. OMG/the integration will automatically add the deliverable number prefixes for you. It’s recommended that if you're creating a project for a specific purpose, such as exploring 'Creative A', you should name it accordingly.

After creating your project, a new browser tab will open, taking you directly into Pencil. If you aren’t logged in, you’ll be prompted to sign in.

Once logged in, return to the Deliverable Details tab and select the 'Launch Pencil' option again. You’ll then see the project you’ve just created.

You can continue by creating your assets under the linked project.

Approvals

In OMG, once the assets are added you can click the 'Export' option that will export the asset to OMG. Please note the 'Export' function is currently only available for the 'Chat to Ads' option.

Once the assets are added to the 'Deliverable Assets' section, you can select 'Send for Approval' from the 'Actions' drop-down.
