Building costs on a deliverable
Based on the deliverable(s) required you will need determine how much resource will be required to complete them. For example, a press ad may require 1 hr of a Designer, 30 mins of an Artworker and 15 mins of an account manager. These are known as ‘Line items’.
- To add a line item, open the ‘Deliverable Details’ page and select ‘Line items’
- Line items are organised in ‘Stages’ and there will be a single stage added by default when a deliverable is created. You can rename this stage by selecting ‘Update stage’ from the ‘Actions’ menu and add new stages by clicking ‘New stage’.
- Stages should be used to organise a deliverable into clear phases of work.
- Stages can also be aligned to versions, should you need to provide detailed estimates. If you do not wish to include versions on any estimates, set the Version to 0.
- To start adding line items, select New item and a new line row will be added to the stage.
- First – confirm the Service line type you will be able to choose from the following options
- Client service – These are conventional time-based items, all quantities are in hours
- Asset – A fixed cost item, comprised of a pre-agreed selection of resources. This can also include an allocation for 3rd party costs also
- Unit – A non-time based item, for instance where the costs are based on word count or relate to a physical internal cost – such as a proof.
- Next, select a Service line by using the drop down menu or start typing to search
- Enter a descriptive Name of the line item, for instance, you may lable a Line item Artworking when selecting the Artworker service line.
- The name will appear on the client estimate.
- Finally, add a ‘Quantity‘ and click ‘Save‘ to update the ‘Sub total‘.

You can create templates for Stages and Deliverables which will save time if you have common types of work.
