# Versioning content

Any asset added can be versioned to ensure retention of a full audit process. Assets can be versioned at any point provided they are not in an active approval process.

### **Versioning an asset**

- Navigate to the asset you want to version.
- Click **‘Version’** from the menu bar.
- Click **‘Upload new version’**.
- Follow the standard upload process.
- Your asset will now appear as a new version.

> *By default, users browsing for content will always see the latest version of an asset in the gallery views*.

### **Viewing previous versions**

- Navigate to the asset you want to version.
- Click **‘Version’** from the menu bar.
- Click the relevant version number you want to review.
- The page will refresh to show you the required version.

> *All information, including Approval history is now related specifically to that version only.*

*Versioned files which have been through approval will be available for the ‘Compare’ feature when annotating. See* [*here*](https://omg.oliver.solutions/index.php/omg_wiki/approving-and-annotating-content/) *for more details*
